The Green Roof: A Year in Pictures

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Molly de Aguiar, Program Associate

Tomorrow we’re cleaning up (composting!) the remnants of our garden, and we’ll be talking as a group about the lessons we learned from our first year of urban gardening as well as planning for what we’d like to accomplish next year.

For me personally, it was such a treat to watch the green roof grow this year, to pick fresh strawberries and cherry tomatoes at lunchtime, and to see the bees and butterflies come to our flowers. And there’s nothing so restorative during the busy work day than to eat lunch in the sunshine,  surrounded by the trees, flowers and grass—one floor up!

Here’s a look back at our green roof this first year in our new offices, starting with what it looked like before it was planted (November 2008) to the present. Pretty remarkable, don’t you think?

14 Maple Avenue’s Grand Opening in Pictures

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Last week, the tenants of 14 Maple Avenue proudly celebrated the grand opening of the building alongside its owner, the Morristown Parking Authority, with all of our friends, grantees, supporters, and the public.

For those of you who weren’t able to join us, we’d like to extend an invitation to come visit us and take a tour of the building. In the meantime, have a look at some pictures from the day.

As you can see, we couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather, as we gathered for the start of the day-long festivities.

The Countdown Is On!

As this article in the Daily Record explains, we’re getting close to the completion of New Jersey’s greenest building, which will be home to the new offices of the Dodge Foundation. Construction continues at a furious pace!

For more information on the unique green features of the building, you can explore the “green building project” section of our website.
