<description>Hi Michele - excellent piece. I agree we need to tap the emotional side and channel that huge reservoir of public support for our issues and all that untapped energy into progressive policy.

But which emotions to tap; how to tap them; and how to focus and channel that energy tactically are what we need to collectively discuss. I&#039;ve got plenty of ideas along these lines and have been deploying many already (I think effectively, but some disagree))

From all that I&#039;ve read, we face serious political problems at the worst moment - just when our issues are approaching crisis tipping points.

Right wing organizing has opportunistically capitalized on the economic recession and the Obama missteps (expansion of War, Wall Street bailout; subsidies to insurance and pharmaceutical industries instead of single payer helath care, et al) .

We now are reaping the whirlwind, as evidenced by things like the election of Christie and yesterday&#039;s Massachusets US Senate vote.

We either wake up, develop populist message and policy, or NJ goes the route of Kansas (or post Prop 13 California).

I just issued a challenging proposal to NJ&#039;s ENGO leaders today.

A similar challenge is needed to NJ foundations and funders.

But a blog is not the place for this conversation.
