Great to "see you" here Bridget. Methinks the "why do I write?" question shows up a lot in the life of a writer, and coming to a place of decision that it's a practice is a BIG one. When it's no longer an imperative (you've got write to get those emotions on the page or you'll explode), but it's now how you process and connect ("shock and shake" too ) ... well, weee; now you're really digging in. Can't wait to see what comes from HERE. :)

"I needed to engage with them outside of my body—on the page—where I had the chance to play with the forces that threatened to overwhelm me in real life." This was such a captivating statement and addresses the therapeutic power of poetry. We are a mental health rehabilitation agency who use poetry as a type of therapy for our clients and this quote touches so close to the "forces" our clients deal with.

This was a beautifully written post Bridget in response to an interesting question "why write." And if you have the time you should check out our clients reading their poems here http://thebridgeny.blogspot.com/
